Used to got to Mitch's a lot more in undergrad, but enjoy making it over there from time to time. 10 years here for me, so hoping for a move out West after grad school.Williamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12246097814012645596noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4979545333979747089.post-38497148091055492192011-07-21T18:45:03.644-06:002011-07-21T18:45:03.644-06:00William: Except for the summer heat, Raleigh is a ...William: Except for the summer heat, Raleigh is a great place to live. I used to live at Five Points and we loved Lilly's Pizza. I also loved Mitch's on Hillsborough when I was in grad school.

Andy: Back when that photo was taken plaid shirts were still semi-OK. :) That was a Tommy Hilfiger shirt that I thought was ultra cool. Today, I would never wear plaid. Or pleated pants for that matter.Wyatt Hornsbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14224514798393011001noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4979545333979747089.post-49880996827757070862011-07-21T17:16:02.337-06:002011-07-21T17:16:02.337-06:00Dude! What a great ...Thanks for sharing your story Wyatt. What a great message. It's interesting that you once lived in Raleigh as I am a current resident. My journey into Ultra's is starting in the same place. I appreciate your down to earth nature and passion for running. There was a great book a few years ago entitled "The Tipping Point." I believe many of us have dreams and aspirations but just need that nudge to act on them. When I look back on my life, it now seems obvious I was "born" with the "endurance gene." That doesn't mean I'm talented; it just means I was born with the desire to go long. I actually believe a lot of people out there are fascinated by endurance (how else to explain the wild success of "Born to Run?). I've always had that desire. The events described in this post gave me that nudge--the tipping point--I needed and wanted. All that said, I admit the title of this post is a bit over-the-top, but I came up with it as an attention grabber :).Wyatt Hornsbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14224514798393011001noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4979545333979747089.post-30305074497308765552011-07-21T08:08:53.207-06:002011-07-21T08:08:53.207-06:00I get what you are saying but ...
... there is so...I get what you are saying but ...

... there is something else.

I appreciate that Oprah nudged some folks off the couch and that was enough of a spark to start the journey.

But something else is there to have you go after the 100s, the mountain runs, etc. At the risk of sounding like a grumpy old man, there was something there already Wyatt that you did not get from a talk show host who "ran" a 5 hour marathon.

Not that it matters. It is good that you are out there and doing it, regardless of what the catalyst was.

Cheers.GZhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12623054918799881730noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4979545333979747089.post-51500833073050211702011-07-21T03:03:58.757-06:002011-07-21T03:03:58.757-06:00One word Wyatt
